SparkyLinux 7.8 XFCE

The SparkyLinux project has published an update to its Stable branch which also fixes a package conflict when working with some multimedia packages. "The 8th update of SparkyLinux 7, version 7.8 is out. It is a quarterly point release of SparkyLinux 7 'Orion Belt' of the stable line. SparkyLinux 7 is based on and fully compatible with Debian 12 'Bookworm'. Changes: all packages updated from Debian and SparkyLinux Stable repositories as of July 14, 2025; Linux kernel 6.1.140 LTS (6.15.6, 6.12.38 LTS, 6.6.98 LTS in SparkyLinux repositories); LibreOffice 7.4.7 (25.2.3 in Debian Backports repositories); KDE Plasma 5.27.5, LXQt 1.2.0, MATE 1.26, Xfce 4.18, Openbox 3.6.1, Firefox 128.12.0esr (140.0.4 in SparkyLinux repositories), Thunderbird 128.12.0esr; fixed problem with conflicted libraries installed previously from debian-multimedia repository...."

GParted Live 1.7.0-8

This release release drops support for 32-bit processors due to Debian's decision to no longer pack i386 Linux kernel and it also updates the Linux kernel to version 6.12.37. "The GParted team is pleased to announce a new stable release of GParted Live. This release includes GParted 1.7.0, updated packages and other improvements. Items of note include: only amd64 (x86-64) images are available going forward - as mentioned in the Debian release mailing list, dropping i386 kernel packages, the i386 Linux kernel packages were dropped in our upstream, Debian 'Sid' repository, hence i686/i686-pae GParted Live will be no more in the future; from this release on, only amd64 (x86-64) release will be available; includes GParted 1.7.0; implemented a mechanism to reduce the possibility of random order of block devices in GParted Live; based on the Debian 'Sid' repository as of 2025-07-12; Linux kernel image updated to 6.12.37. Parrot 6.4

The Parrot team have announced the release of Parrot 6.4, which will likely be the final release of the 6.x series. "We are proud to announce Parrot Security 6.4, the latest release of our security oriented operating system, this new version comes packed with most of the enhancements that our vibrant community asked for, and it features the amazing work of many new contributors. Many tools, like Metasploit, Sliver, Caido and Empire received important updates, the Linux kernel was updated to a more recent version, and the latest LTS version of Firefox was provided with all our privacy oriented patches. Parrot 6.4 will most likely be the last release of the 6.x branch."

Rhino Linux 2025.3

Rhino Linux is an Ubuntu-based distribution which offers a rolling-release upgrade approach. The project's latest snapshot introduces a rewritten package manager (RPK2) and a new KDE-based desktop environment which uses Plasma 6 packages. "2025.3 images ship with RPK2, our rewrite of Rhino PKG in Nushell, by default. We have already written a blog post detailing the changes that came in RPK2, which we recommend checking out if you haven't already. We also recommend all users review the updated Rhino PKG Wiki or rpk help message to learn about the new commands and shorthands. We have also announced the release of our UBXI KDE Desktop package this release cycle, based on Plasma 6. You can read the full announcement here. Additionally, we want to reiterate that we plan to release official UBXI KDE disk image spins by the end of the year, shipping alongside the standard Unicorn Desktop images, to allow for more desktop options out-of-the-box. Pacstall has had a few major bumps in between Rhino Linux 2025.2 and 2025.3. As we have mentioned before, with Pacstall being integral to Rhino Linux, as well as sharing developers between the projects, we feel it's important to share information about these releases as well."

Melawy Linux 2025.07.04

The new version, labelled as 2025.07.04, comes with updated packages as well as various important changes. Most notably, the distribution now uses the XanMod kernel, a general-purpose Linux kernel with custom settings and third-party patches. Previously, Melawy Linux used a kernel built by CachyOS for improved performance and responsiveness, but the CachyOS kernel does not work on some laptops. Also, the XanMod kernel offers support for Waydroid, a container-based method that enables Android to run in a containerized environment on Linux systems. The new release also comes with unspecified bug fixes. Visit the project's news page to read the brief release announcement (in Russian) and to see the screenshots. Although Melawy Linux is a Russian project, the distribution defaults to an English-language user interface.
