Linux Lite is a beginner-friendly Linux distribution based on Ubuntu's long-term support (LTS) release and featuring the Xfce desktop. The distribution combines its Ubuntu base with a collection of user friendly utilities and guides to help new users get started. The project has published a new development release features an option to launch the system installer from the welcome window and offers a new icon theme. There have also been a number of package upgrades. "Details: Kernel: 5.4.0-80 (custom kernels also available via our repository for versions 3.13 - 5.13); Firefox: 89.0.2; Thunderbird: 78.11.0; LibreOffice: 6.4.7.2; VLC: 3.0.9.2; GIMP: 2.10.18; Base: 20.04.2. Known issues: No prompt to eject media at the end of the Legacy install, prompt is available at the end of the UEFI install. Release notes - not working on first installer slide. Desktop icons - English support only. GRUB - holding shift down whilst booting in UEFI mode does not bring up the Grub menu (works in Legacy mode), waiting for Ubuntu fix. GRUB menu shows Linux Lite as 'Ubuntu'. After you install Linux Lite, you can change GRUB to show 'Linux Lite'."

The Amnesic Incognito Live System (Tails) is a Debian-based live DVD/USB with the goal of providing complete Internet anonymity for the user. The project's latest release, Tails 4.20, introduces a new way to connect to the Internet using the Tor Connection Assistant. "Tails 4.20 completely changes how to connect to the Tor network from Tails. After connecting to a local network, a Tor Connection assistant helps you connect to the Tor network. This new assistant is most useful for users who are at high risk of physical surveillance, under heavy network censorship, or on a poor Internet connection: It protects better the users who need to go unnoticed if using Tor could look suspicious to someone who monitors their Internet connection (parental control, abusive partner, school or work network, etc.). It allows people who need to connect to Tor using bridges to configure them without having to change the default configuration in the Welcome Screen. It helps first-time users understand how to connect to a local Wi-Fi network. It provides feedback while connecting to Tor and helps troubleshoot network problems. We know that this assistant is still far from being perfect, even if we have been working on this assistant since February."

Solus 4.3 is an independent, rolling-release, desktop Linux distribution. The project is available in four desktop flavours, the primary one being the project's custom Budgie graphical user interface. Its latest release, Solus 4.3, features a number of improvements to multimedia and hardware support, as well as an update to Budgie. "Solus 4.3 ships with version 0.9.0 of the dav1d AV1 decoder, which should provide a large boost to high-bitdepth decoding on AVX2 supported CPUs. We also ship with PulseAudio 14.2, which fixes a bug related to unplug event handling. Solus ships with the latest release of our flagship desktop environment, Budgie 10.5.3. This features GNOME 40 stack support alongside all the fixes and quality-of-life improvements listed below. We welcome you to check out the full release notes listed above.
