Clonezilla Live 3.2.1-28

Clonezilla Live is a minimal, live distribution which provides tools for cloning and restoring disk and partition images. The project's latest release, version 3.2.1-28, is based on Ubuntu 25.04. "The underlying GNU/Linux operating system has been upgraded, this release is based on the Ubuntu 25.04 'Plucky Puffin' repository, as of 2025-05-04; Linux kernel has been updated to 6.14; Partclone has been updated to 0.3.36; added libfsapfs-utils, usb-modeswitch and fscrypt packages in Clonezilla live system; added ocs-find-live-key program and updated ocs-put-log-usb so that it can copy the log files even when Clonezilla live USB drive is used in 'To RAM' mode; it will find the USB key that is vFAT file system and that contains the Clonezilla-Live-Version' file, then it will be treated as Clonezilla live USB drive; ocs-live-repository - added dev=///OCS_LIVE_USB so that the Clonezilla live USB drive can be assigned as the image repository, especially when Clonezilla live USB drive is booted in 'To RAM" mode', the Clonezilla live USB drive has to be vFAT file system since it's used to boot in both UEFI and MBR mode."

openSUSE 16.0 Beta

The openSUSE project has announced the availability of openSUSE 16.0 beta, a development snapshot previewing features coming in the next version of the project's stable Leap branch. Many of the key changes focus on removing legacy packages. "Leap 16.0 with its fresh fork brings a renewed foundation and cleaner system. Expected to be Wayland-only (some X.Org remnants remain for now). SysV init support has been dropped. The new Agama installer is now the default. The traditional YaST stack is retired in favor of: Cockpit for system management; Myrlyn as a drop-in replacement for the YaST Software GUI. (Note: YaST is still available in Tumbleweed but will no longer be developed; YaST has been removed from Leap 16 and Myrlyn takes on this role of software installation like YaST. If someone is interested in the maintenance of YaST for further development and bug fixes, the source are available on GitHub. Leap 16.0 will no longer run on machines that do not support x86_64-v2."

"The 25.04 'Plucky Puffin' release uses Cinnamon 6.4.8. Kubuntu 25.04 torrent

The Kubuntu project has announced the release of Kubuntu 25.04 which features version 6.3 of the Plasma desktop. The release announcement shares the highlights: "The Kubuntu team is happy to announce that Kubuntu 25.04 has been released. Code-named 'Plucky Puffin', Kubuntu 25.04 continues our tradition of giving you Friendly Computing by integrating the latest and greatest open-source technologies into a high-quality, easy-to-use Linux distribution. The release features the latest KDE Plasma 6.3 desktop, KDE Gear 24.12.3, Linux kernel 6.14 and many other updated applications and libraries. Applications for core day-to-day usage are included and updated, such as Firefox and LibreOffice. In addition to the applications on our install media, 25.04 benefits from the huge number of applications in the Ubuntu archive, plus those installable via snap or other methods. Plasma Wayland session is the default option in sddm (display manager login screen). An X11 session can be selected instead if desired. The last-used session type will be remembered, so you do not have to switch type on each login. Please refer to our release notes for further details."

Canoncial has announced the release of Ubuntu 25.04 "Plucky Puffin" which introduces the Linux 6.14 kernel and offers nine months of support. "buntu 25.04 introduces GNOME 48 with triple buffering for smoother performance, HDR settings, and new features like a Wellbeing Panel and Preserve Battery Health mode. A new modern PDF reader, Papers, is now the default. The installer now offers a smoother experience when installing alongside other operating systems, with better BitLocker support, and advanced partitioning. Built on the Linux 6.14 kernel, this release brings a new scheduling system with sched_ext, enhanced Wine/Proton gaming support through the new NTSYNC driver, and better container tooling via decoupled bpftools and linux-perf. Developer experience takes a leap forward with the introduction of devpacks. These snap bundles deliver the latest Go and Spring ecosystems, alongside updated toolchains for Python, Rust, .NET, LLVM, OpenJDK, and more."
